Our favourite wine is our flagship Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, a true reflection of our winery's essence. We would share it with our dedicated team, as a celebration of our collective efforts and achievements. This wine, with its vibrant flavours and complex aromas, is a testament to our commitment to excellence and innovation in winemaking.

I choose to live and work in Marlborough because I believe Sauvignon Blanc reaches its pinnacle of potential here. The powerful varietal expression is profoundly driven by terroir. From the Wairau and Awatere Valleys down to the limestone-rich Southern Coast, Marlborough’s diverse terroir broadens my palette as a winemaker to craft complex and individual wines. I use all my skills and experience to style wines with elegance and balance that capture the intensity and brightness of our fruit. — Simon Waghorn

To us, Sauvignon Blanc is part of the family. It’s a long-term relationship built on Marlborough vines, sunshine, and the belief that great wines come from continual care and refinement.

This grape carries our way of thinking. Thoughtful, expressive, and a little unorthodox. It’s how the world came to know Babich and how Babich came to know itself. Do things with intention, trust the process, and let the wine speak for itself.

Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc in the classic expression is the most unmistakable wine on earth, and we embrace that unapologetically. But for Blank Canvas, Sauvignon Blanc isn’t our calling card, it’s our proving ground. It’s the variety that refuses to let you hide, demanding precision, nerve, and a point of view. Its qualities allow us to show exactly who we are: obsessive about site, fearless about flavour, and intent on elevating a region and wine the world thinks it already understands. We respect it, we're proud of it and the best is yet to come.

When we set out to make wine in 2005, establishing the winery and vineyard, we knew at our core that Sauvignon Blanc would be our hero. Sourcing from our estate and grower vineyards throughout the Southern Valleys, a subregion that has such a distinct identity with its higher clay content and Southern Alps exposure has been crucial in defining our refined and elegant style. The rich tapestry of Marlborough allows us to express Sauvignon Blanc in unique ways each vintage, whether we seek freshness or something a little more complex.

Sauvignon Blanc is where Cloudy Bay began, and it remains at the heart of who we are. Since 1985, it has been our way of expressing place - blending fruit from across the Wairau Valley to capture both vibrancy and depth. Every season is different, but our approach is constant: careful selection, thoughtful blending, and no compromise on quality. The style is recognisable but never fixed: shaped by the year, guided by our team, and built to age gracefully.

Integral to the Craggy Range story, Sauvignon Blanc is a defining expression of our Te Muna Road Estate. Grown on the lower terraces and crafted from over fifty individually managed parcels, it is blended to create a wine greater than the sum of its parts. Martinborough’s cool climate and rocky soils deliver lifted aromatics, steely minerality and fruit intensity, shaping a Sauvignon Blanc of layered texture, complexity and food-friendly sophistication.

Sauvignon Blanc is where we start, not where we stop. We craft it first for purity, and the unmistakable character of Marlborough. Then we push it. We treat Sauvignon Blanc as a blank canvas, a varietal with range, texture, and depth that rewards curiosity. From classic to unexpected, it’s a wine that lets us explore how far flavour, structure, and expression can really go.

Greywacke has always been a celebration of place; a family winery driven by the desire to produce wines with true varietal and seasonal expression. Our wines are undeniably - and proudly – Marlborough, but with a style and complexity we owe to a combination of experience and a commitment to aligning specific winemaking techniques to each of our wines. Sauvignon Blanc is the core of our range; with our second expression, arguably, having become Greywacke's flagship wine.

Gisborne Sauvignon Blanc is one of the first wines in the world to greet the sunrise. Gisborne itself might best be thought of as what New Zealand is to the rest of the world — pristine, stunningly beautiful, bountiful, and quietly under the radar. Our Sauvignon Blanc may come from a hidden corner, but it has no intention of being overlooked. Bursting with sunshine, freshness, and tropical fruit, it’s bright, expressive, and unapologetically fruity — much like the characters behind it.

Sauvignon Blanc is the grape that defines Invivo - and through two landmark global collaborations with our long-term partners and shareholders Sarah Jessica Parker and Graham Norton, we've shown just how versatile it can be and its evolution over the years. Graham's GN Sauvignon Blanc is New Zealand at its most vibrant: zesty fruit, lively acidity, and crowd-pleasing, Friday night energy.

Invivo X, SJP takes a softer, more textured path - subtle oak influence, greater body, and an elegant complexity that has earned Wine Spectator Top 100 status two times and Top 10 Value wines of 2025. Same grape, two personalities, endlessly exciting!

Her wines are great memories in a bottle, created with sunshine from Marlborough and love from Jules.

The Donaldson Family of Pegasus Bay has always taken a somewhat alternative approach to Kiwi Sauvignon Blanc, focusing on texture, structure, and lengthier purity of fruit. Vine age, wild ferments, the subtle use of oak, lees aging and the addition of Semillon have always played a role in achieving this. In more recent vintages, whole-bunch fermentation with extended skin contact has been introduced to further evolve the house style.

Today Saint Clair’s extensive range of Sauvignon Blanc includes the iconic Wairau Reserve, made from the very best parcels,  believed to be New Zealand’s most awarded Sauvignon Blanc.

We’ve spent half a lifetime working with, and learning about, Sauvignon Blanc in Marlborough. For us, its appeal lies in a rare synergy between variety and place, and in its ability to charm wine lovers everywhere — ourselves included. Marlborough is a young region, still discovering how best to reveal its diversity and character. As owner-winemakers, we feel privileged to play a small part in that process, and to share our work with the wider world of wine.

Innovating Sauvignon Blancs is one of Spy Valley’s core passions and legacies. Having pioneered some of Waihopai Valley’s first vineyards in the 1990s, Spy Valley Sauvignon Blancs were some of the first to showcase Waihopai’s subregional lean toward tropical, stone fruit, passionfruit profiles and away from the capsicum and fresh grass of lower Wairua and Awatere. Our award winning, world-renowned Sauvignon Blancs range from vibrant and expressive, to mineral nuanced, and even a five-year barrel aged gem. We are on a mission to inspire the world of wine.

Sauvignon Blanc brought us south. Marlborough has long been one of the world's great homes for the variety, and we wanted to explore what it could look like through a Man O’ War lens. High-altitude, low yielding sites, and the same unconventional approach to viticulture & winemaking we've practiced on Waiheke for decades.

Sauvignon Blanc keeps drawing you in - it's transparent in a way few varieties are, the fingerprint of site and season always present. Pure, vibrant and expressive of place.

te Pa is an independent, family-owned, and highly awarded wine company in Marlborough, New Zealand. The owner and founder of te Pa, Haysley MacDonald, traces his ancestry back to some of the earliest arrivals of Maori to the country, some 800 years ago so the brand has a unique history. One of just a handful of independently-owned Maori wineries in New Zealand, te Pa has authenticity and provenance in spades.

Sauvignon Blanc is at the heart of our winemaking programme, and as a team we all love to drink it too. Our flagship te Pā Sauvignon Blanc was named on Wine Spectator's Top 100 most exciting wines of 2025, so we know that what we're producing is up there with the very best examples in the world.

Beyond the critical acclaim, Sauvignon Blanc is perfectly suited to kaimoana (seafood), and given our main vineyard's unique geographical location in the Lower Wairau, with the Wairau River on one border, and the waters of Cloudy Bay just 160m from our front border, we are surrounded by water bodies. Haysley and his whanau (family) have a deep-rooted ancestral connection to seafood gathering, so it makes perfect sense that the style of food we all enjoy eating, is so well matched with the main wine we produce.

We believe that what Marlborough has achieved on the world stage is truly remarkable and it’s deserving of respect & protection. Our mission with Sauvignon Blanc, is to put 100% effort into making a wine that silences all the doubters, and which restores faith in this fabulous region and the amazing quality of the wines from here.  We produce two different styles from our family vineyards – the TWR is our classic style and our SV release is a barrel-fermented version.
